JSON has become a very popular protocol for program to program interoperability. CICS TS provides native JSON service, but extra work involved when exposing existing applications as RESTful APIs. z/OS Connect EE provides JSON based RESTful APIs to interact with CICS applications (and other subsystems), without having to modify existing application codes.

This session will look at z/OS Connect EE from the systems programmer's point of view. What needs to be configured in CICS as well as z/OS Connect EE to expose CICS assets as RESTful APIs. We will also cover what is needed to have CICS programs invoke RESTful APIs.
